The Enggano Island

Enggano island situate approximate 110 miles or about 177 KM south of Bengkulu city. The island of Enggano is about 22 miles east west long and 10 miles north south wide, elevation average is about 100 M. The island area is about 40,260 Hectare, hills covered most of area about 281 M, dominated by rain forest.

There are a several clans who lives in Enggano island; Kaharuba clan, Kaarubi clan, Kaitora clan, Kaahoao clan, and Kauno clan. They lives spread over the Enggano island. They are a matrilineal society, which traced through mother line, actually they are animist but now some of them already become muslim and others are christian.At Enggano island we still can see the traditional society with their native’s Enggano dances. To come to this island, we can reach by pioneer boat at  the harbour of Baai island or even we can hiting a small boat at Bintuhun seaport. Enggano island is a beautiful object for your next culture tourism destination. /ika
